I also baked muffins in a hurry one morning for a sorority brunch... These were muffins out of a package. I noticed my friends took one bite out of the muffin and then set them down on their plate. When I left, the host was insistent that I take the same thing. On the way home, I tasted one - only to realize that the outside was perfectly brown... and the inside was totally raw. My boyfriend at the time decided to throw the muffins out to the birds, in our yard. But the birds wouldn't eat them either. It was vile -- we took a couple of bites, then I got up from the table, walked over to the recipe and threw it in the trash. We never really figured out why it was so awful.
